The Wild Card trailer has been released, giving us our first look at the latest Statham vehicle.
Statham plays a Vegas bodyguard with gambling problems in this thriller, which sees him strike back when a friend is beaten by a thug. And so on and so forth.
Wild Card looks like a run-of-the-mill Statham staple, but it could offer some harmless fun. The fact that it’s penned by Academy Award-winning screenwriter William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The President’s Men) certainly doesn’t hurt either, even if the last feature he penned was Dreamcatcher. Interestingly, this is a remake of the poorly received 1986 thriller Heat, and it’s using the same Goldman screenplay.
Wild Card, directed by Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Expendables 2), stars Jason Statham, Anne Heche, Milo Ventimiglia, Michael Angarano, Dominik García-Lorido, Sofia Vergara, Jason Alexander, Hope Davis, and Stanley Tucci.
