‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Receiving Fast-Tracked Digital Release in Australia & New Zealand

Warner Bros.

Some good news for fans of Wonder Woman 1984 – or those that missed its theatrical run – in Australia and New Zealand.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Roadshow Entertainment have announced that DC adventure Wonder Woman 1984 is receiving a fast-tracked release on Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) and premium digital ownership in Australia and New Zealand from January 27th, 2021. Considering the Gal Gadot-starrer was released in Australian cinemas on December 26th, Boxing Day, this makes it one of the first wide-released blockbusters to be fast-tracked ahead of the usual three-month release window.

The Patty Jenkins-directed film will be available to rent through PVOD for $AUD29.99 or to purchase digitally for $AUD34.99.

Wonder Woman 1984 topped $AUD26 million at the Australian and New Zealand box office. On a worldwide scale, the film’s box office earnings have hit $US148 million, although it’s a little harder to measure its overall success with WW84 being released simultaneously in cinemas and streaming service HBO Max in the USA.

Critically and audience reception-wise, the film has been somewhat polarising. On Rotten Tomatoes it has a 60% score and an audience score of 74%, whereas on IMDb over 143,000 user votes have landed the film a 5.4 score – the lowest for an entry in the current DC cinematic universe.
